The 116th Annual Convention opened in McConnellsburg PA with the Annual Memorial Service and business meeting. Members from 5 states are already registered. The membership established a budget for the coming year.
Presentations were given on the various topics including a proposed traffic management training center in Pennsylvania but Todd Leiss of the PA Turnpike Commission.
The Association approved a new Scholarship for students of OK State University Fire Engineering Program for a student to assist with research for the CVVFA Emergency Responder Safety Institute.

Congressman Bill Shuster, Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee who represents the McConnellsburg area stopped by the annual picnic to meet the out of state guests and to hear about the CVVFA’s Responder Safety Institute.
The Presidents Council meeting was attended by the States of PA, WV, DE, MD, NJ as well as representatives from the Congressional Fire Services Institute, International Association of Fire Chiefs and the National Volunteer Fire Council.
PA Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay participated in the President Council Meeting and served as the banquet speaker later in the evening. During the banquet a tornado warning was issued for McConnellsburg. Power was disrupted for about one hour and a portion of the banquet was held in candle light until electricity was restored.
Hoby Howell of Maryland was installed as President along Allen Baldwin as 1st VP and Rich Brunner as 2nd VP. Dr. Candice McDonald was elected Director becoming the first officer or director elected from the state of Ohio.
Saturday was clear and bright with over 40 units participating in the parade. McConnellsburg VFC provided after parade refreshments and a corn hole tournament.
