A Saturday night visit to Florence NJ Fire Station 401 and a Sunday breakfast meeting at Burlington Township Fire Company was the perfect combination for a fun and informative weekend at the first CVVFA meeting to be held in New Jersey. With 35 members in attendance Ed Klima Executive Director of the First Responder Center of Excellence and Safety Officer at Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. spoke about the issue of firefighter behavioral health. Dr Candice McDonald CVVFA Director from Ohio presented on how the CVVFA could improve recruitment by using strategies to attract a new generation of members. The presentation was a shortened version of Candice’s 4-hour program she delivers around the country. Several new logo wear items were shown for the organization. A first reading of some needed updates to the By-laws was passed. Six new members joined the Association.
