CVVFA Awarded FEMA Fire Prevention & Safety Grant
Roadway incidents remain one of the most dangerous environments faced by emergency responders. Every year, responders are injured or killed while assisting at crashes, fires, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies along highways and local roads. The funding provided through FEMA's FP&S program will help CVVFA advance ERSI's mission of reducing line-of-duty injuries and fatalities through training, education, awareness, and the promotion of proven roadway safety practices.
The Emergency Responder Safety Institute Learning Network serves as a national platform for delivering high-quality roadway incident response training and professional development. Utilizing this grant, CVVFA will expand the availability of training programs, educational materials, outreach initiatives, and collaborative learning opportunities that help responders safely manage roadway incidents and better protect themselves and the motoring public.
"This award represents an important investment in the safety of emergency responders across the country," said a representative of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighter's Association. "Through the Emergency Responder Safety Institute and its Learning Network, this funding will allow us to reach more responders with critical roadway safety training and resources that can help prevent injuries and save lives."
The Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighter's Association extends its appreciation to FEMA for recognizing the importance of responder safety and roadway incident management. The Association also thanks its partners, member organizations, instructors, and stakeholders whose continued support helps advance the mission of improving safety for those who serve on the front lines every day.
