About Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association
Over One hundred years ago, fire chiefs from the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia met in Chambersburg, PA for the purpose of adopting a uniform hose coupling and to develop a mutual aid system along the Cumberland Valley Railroad. Today, the CVVFA connects experts from around the country and develops new training and resources for firefighters and the entire responder community.

CVVFA and ERSI Present at LCFA Expo
The Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association (CVVFA) was present at the Lancaster County Firefighters Association Fire Expo in Harrisburg, PA, on May 16th and 17th, 2025. Members of the CVVFA and its Emergency Responder Safety Institute (ERSI) staffed a booth at the expo for both days, interacting with first responders from across the mid-Atlantic region.

Jim Wharry, Life Member of the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Co. of Newark DE died following a long illness. Jim joined Aetna following his father who served as Ambulance Captain and his
mother who was an auxiliary member.
