Scholarships

The CVVFA offers three scholarships that may be presented each year at the Annual Convention.

Scholarship awards of up to $1,000 may be issued annually. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in the next scheduled semester of a two or four year accredited college or university offering.

Applications are due by May 1, 2025

Scholarship awards will be presented at the 2025 CVVFA Convention in August. The scholarships are intended to be applied to the next semester at an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university of your choice. Failure to comply will require the immediate return of the award.

The J.R. Haines Memorial CVVFA Scholarship

The J.R. Haines Memorial CVVFA Scholarship was established for the purpose of annually providing monetary assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a degree in fire science, including arson investigation and related subjects at a college or university of their choice. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in the next scheduled semester of a two or four year accredited college or university that offers courses in fire science including fire, fire investigation and related subjects.  These courses must be taken in addition to other required subjects.

The Kenneth Butts CVVFA Emergency Medical Service Scholarship

The Kenneth Butts CVVFA Emergency Medical Service Scholarship was established for the purpose of annually providing monetary assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a degree in Emergency Medical Service and related subjects at a college or university of their choice. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in the next scheduled semester of a two or four year accredited college or university that offers courses in emergency medical service and related subjects.  These courses must be taken in addition to other required subjects.

The Harry Alt CVVFA Scholarship

The Harry Alt CVVFA Scholarship was established for the purpose of annually providing monetary assistance to individuals interested in pursuing a degree in General Fire related subjects at a college or university of their choice. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll in the next scheduled semester of a two- or four-year accredited college or university that offers courses in fire science including fire, fire investigation and related subjects.  These courses must be taken in addition to other required subjects.
